The Jaws of Itzl
The Jaws of Itzl recently jumped to the front of my painting queue, and for good reason. On February 8th, I’ll be taking them to the Warhammer Underworlds: Nemesis Grand Clash at Warhammer World in Nottingham, and I couldn’t bear to show up without them looking their absolute best.
Painting these little cold-blooded killers has been a joy. The Jaws of Itzl are a vivid and dynamic warband, and I leaned into that with bold, eye-catching color schemes. I wanted them to look both primal and otherworldly, so I used a palette of deep jungle greens and luminous blues. It really captures the essence of the Seraphon—ancient and ethereal, but still savage and deadly.
I’m really proud of how they turned out, especially on a tight timeline. Sure, they jumped ahead of some other projects in my backlog (apologies to those poor unpainted models on my shelf), but it feels worth it. I can’t wait to see them take to the boards in Nottingham—both as painted models and as a cunning, cold-blooded force in the Nemesis format.
Here’s hoping the Jaws of Itzl strike hard and fast in the Grand Clash. If you’re there, come say hi and check them out—I’ll be happy to talk paint schemes or swap warband stories. Let’s see how far these lizzies can go!
